MAMMAL - MAYBE - BASS PLAYTHROUGH

Maybe - Mammal.

This is track number 10 from the bands 2024 release ‘The Penny Drop’.

I was blessed with the presence of producer Jimi Maroudas in my home studio for part of the writing on this track. Surprisingly this was the most challenging track off the album. Sometimes the slower and less energy the more difficult the writing. I love this track and how it flows. It’s a great example of how a bass sound can drive a track, hold the low end, and still work rhythmically and musically overall. This is especially noticeable when listening on a nice sound system.

We hired a studio in Box Hill, Melbourne. I really wanted the aesthetic to suit the music. The fine detail even goes into what I’m wearing for the day of tracking, and how my mood is coming across through the camera.

Have used my Warwick Thumb bass with DR Hi Beam strings. This was recorded through Avalon and Mesa Boogie gear, which was later processed with UAD gear.

I completely feel we stepped up the production with the tone, playing and overall aesthetic of the video. I put as much energy into this as possible.
