WELCOME TO MY FIRST FULL BAND COVER

Super stoked to be releasing a full-band cover!

I’m a long-time Incubus fan, and I think Dirk Lance is a bass playing machine. His distinct Warwick bass tone on the albums Science and Make Yourself is killer. He’s such an innovative bassist, both rhythmically and musically.

Incubus were so ahead of their time. They were a massive influence on me when I was younger. Their sound as a whole is unique, and in my opinion, amazing.

A few weeks before the filming, I rang Addzy, Christian, and Ben to organise this cover. This was always going to prove difficult, purely because we were all so busy, plus we’d never actually played together as a four piece.

We extended the outro of this song, and it’s such a laugh to think we spoke about this literally 30 seconds before recording our take.

Addzy has smashed the drums on this track. I’m so happy with what he delivered. Ben’s vocal abilities are amazing. I’ve played live shows with him where he had only a few days to learn a whole set. He can learn quick and deliver great vocal range.

Christian’s playing is killer. He has a university degree in jazz, and his diversity allows him to adapt to many styles. His timing and phrasing are always spot on. Having someone that can dial in killer guitar tones and effects this well was excellent. We took his recording direct from his Fractal Audio Pedalboard.

It’s a beautiful 4-string that I got ten years ago in Western Australia. I wanted one specifically with one pick-up, and to be made from darker, heavier wood.

This bass is completely my design.

The tone is a blend between the Avalon, a Sansamp Bass Driver DI, a Darkglass Super Symmetry Compressor, straight into the MarkBass.

What you are seeing live is exactly what you are hearing.
