MY PHIL COLLINS COVER - ON BASS THE WORLD
How awesome is this???
There are a few different reasons why I’m stoked to be writing this right now.
My Phil Collins cover of Something Happened On The Way To Heaven was the video I launched with kadeturner.com in 2018. I’ve loved Phil’s music since I was a kid, and he still continues to be one of my favourite artists today. I was lucky enough to have my first share ever on the BassTheWorld channel with my Pantera cover of I’m Broken. Gregor, (who runs BassTheWorld), liked it enough to agree to share another video for me.
Although the initially release of this video was satisfactory, (even to my borderline OCD standard), I have learned so much more through video creating in almost 2 years I wanted to edit the video again and also re-colour it.
I spent hours upon hours doing this because I wanted to make it flow organically the way my eye naturally wants to see it. I have gone from paying videographers to edit and colour my videos to doing it all myself. The work involved in this is massive and it takes patience, I enjoy doing it though as it helps me further understand video creation as a whole. It’s also easier on the pocket, and it relieves anxiety around relying on too many people to finish my videos. It doesn’t differ a great deal to the original, but it’s the small detail in every aspect that matters to me, and this is 100 percent my work here without outside assistance.
I’m quite happy with the edit, colour, concept, and most importantly the tone of this final mix.
Re-living this cover has shed a whole new light on the process for me. Not only has it been great to clean up my seemingly endless computer files, the video has been shared on a reputable, well respected channel. It’s clocked over 10,000 views in 2 days and the majority of comments have been on the audio which was exactly my intention from the start. I wanted to create and share something that I feel is world class. Also something that I feel leaves nothing that could have been improved upon at the time of the release.
It’s been nice to receive appreciation through messages and comments on this work from around the world.
I hope you enjoy it.
